We consider it important to offer traditional forms or elements in conjunction with contemporary interpretations to form a Turkish design identity. Furthermore we believe that the forms symbolizing Turkish culture should be converted into design icons. We can cite individual designers who made attempts to introduce a Turkish design identity. Our belief is that introducing a Turkish or Mediterranean identity in an international platform should be done in a wider context. From this point of view, "ILK in Milan" is a very significant exhibition. "ILK in Milan" will show Turkish design to an international platform and strengthen the inter-cultural dimensions of design
